This is the second drawing that I have done in this style. A friend saw a picture of the first I had done, a horse, and she loved it. She asked if I could make her a stylized Fleur-de-Lis as she is from New Orleans, and is a great fan of the Saints. I came up with this drawing some time later, and sent it framed to her as a surprise. To my immense gratitude, she was thrilled with it, and it still hangs above her fireplace.
This is a very elegant and traditional design, yet done in a very modern style. The Fleur-de-Lis is a common symbol, primarily used in reference to France, Quebec, Louisiana, and is the logo of the New Orleans Saints.
The Fleur-de-Lis is a very common decor element, and is seen frequently in French Provincial and Shabby Chic styles.
